![]() | I’m still unsure if I understand about this concept. Sites such as delicious and stumbleupon, etc. allow you to “bookmark” pages you find interesting, then share them. Do people that use these sites for traffic, they just “bookmark” their own pages? If so, isn’t that considered spamming? If not, then how do you generate traffic from social bookmarking? Are we just supposed to sit around and wait for other people to “digg” our pages, or “stumble on” to them? Or somehow introduce our site to the community? I’ve read the about and how-to pages on their sites, and registered with some, but all they gave was basicially an overview of what it does and how to bookmark, nothing about how to use it to your advantage, increase popularity, etc. So, just exactly what should you do to generate traffic?

![]() | Nothing wrong with bookmarking your own pages. Look at "on-line" bookmarking is an extention of your "on computer" bookmarks. The only difference is the online version of your bookmarks can be made public. If you bookmark something that ends up being popular (and it is on your site) it can generate a bunch of hits. Your bookmark account can only bookmark a single page one time so you really can't spam it - unless you create a ton of accounts. Here is a power point presentation that discusses a number of things including bookmarking. |

![]() | Is that all there really is to social bookmarking, or does it get more complicated than that? And what did you mean by only bookmarking "one page at a time"? PS: I looked over the powerpoint, but it didn't explain much about social bookmarking.

![]() | Am I right about it? Still somewhat unsure about online bookmarking.

![]() | It is still going to come down to the content you have. I have a thread called Morning reading or something like that in the SE section. One of the articles discusses Google use of personal habits and it eludes to the weight placed on such things as social bookmarks. There is also an article about an experiment done concerning bounce rates and user habits. The theroy is if you have enough people interested in the content and they stay and read it - they share it with others on their social bookmark accounts that there just may be something about the page Google would want the world to see and will concider those actions when determining SERPS. Yesterday as an example - someone read my blog, liked an article and "Stumbled" it. Within 3 minutes I had 75 people reading my blog post. This is where the content really matters, was it compeling enough for them to blog about it themselves and provide a link to my content? Provide other links to it? Socialize it in other ways? I hadn't signed up for Stumble until yesterday when I say that, still learning how to use it - its impact. I stumbled one of your latest top 10, did you see Stumble traffic (I don't know if I am using right yet...)? |

![]() | Although I haven't been getting traffic that high, the new media article you dugg does have two diggs, but according to hittail, I 'm not getting any traffic from digg, my main sources are still google and forums (again, hardly any). Perhaps that is why I was still confused about Social Bookmarking.

![]() | Well, since no one else is really digging my articles, I was wondering if there was code to remove the "no. of diggs" button and replace it with just a "digg this" text link? I don't think many visitors want to see many pages on my site that shows a "0 diggs" icon, because they would probably think less of it. PS: I already went to the site to look for the code, but all they offer the text link for is news and video.

![]() | First is to create new article and make sure that the content is updated . And then submit the link of your blog with new content to social bookmarking just like digg or delicious. You should try also submitting the link of your site with article. Article with unique title is the most important factor for blog. To boost traffic, is to participate in the forums, discussion board, online communities and tells about your new post. |

![]() | I have probably just started a redundant thread on a similar topic, has anyone started using the del.icio.us social bookmarking tool? Any positive feedback? |

| Smurf | I know that social bookmarking can be an effective way to generate a little bit of traffic I don't really think that you will get much out of it. The best way to gain traffic from social bookmarking is to use social bookmark exchange sites such as StumbleXchange and DiggXchange.

![]() | I found a nice bookmarking marketing tool, which is something similar to what I would like to have on my site. An example of this would be on Hittail's about page. On the lower left column area, it offers links to popular networking sites. Does anyone know how to get this code, or something very similar to it, possibly to add even more networking sites, etc?

| Wish you were here! | Social Bookmarking might get you traffic but it's not really a lot. It's better to continue using Forum Marketing, Article Marketing, Viral Marketing and SEO to get traffic. SEO is the best because it converts 400% better and get 400% more traffic "FOR FREE" compared to dumb guys who spend thousands on PPC campaigns. Remember for PPC, the moment your ad stops, your traffic stops. ![]() Regards, Edmund Ng |

![]() | Yeah I do plan on receiving most of my traffic from SE's, as I'm focusing on what I write to what people are searching for. PS: I found a plugin to solve my bookmarking link issue, in case anyone was helping out to find code.

![]() | Social websites can bring a huge amount of traffic...but its not targeted traffic. People just click you link because it is listed on the fist page, not because they were in a search for what your site is offering. So they enter your site, take a 3 sec look and leave. That wont do you no good.

![]() | The top 10 Social Networking websites receive about 45 percent of the total number of active internet users. This really is proof of how powerful these websites can be. |
