Search Engine Work !!

What if anyone have to start a new search engine website like google and yahoo... does it fully run on scripts and codes or is there much more to do with it ??

Reetesh i guess competeting with the above mentioned companies won't be easy at all. There are some custom search engine script exist but you can mostly influance from wich se would you like to import the results.

Funny enought, I just bought a meta search engine called All Ya Want from another member of this forum a few days ago, so one of the option to you question is to buy an existing one if some of the suggestion other members offerred did not suit you

hey, taking on the big guys is either brave or foolish. I'm leaning towards brave coz they were small at one point. good luck

Hi there,

Yes there is a lot more in making a search engine than just code and scripts. You need an algorithm which you think will bring back the best results for the user. Plus there is a lot of mathematics involved. Pleasing the user with relevant search results is the most important key to success in the search engine business.

But I don't think Google will EVER be beat seriously, they are just too successful, and they know exactly what to give the user.

If you are thinking about competing, no offense but no script will help you, you will need to get a lot of ideas down on paper, and make a custom script, with a crawler, etc...there is a lot of work involved
