Pr is a maths calc of backlinks. I will answer your question with a question though. WHY do you want to increase your page rank? I think the answer to that question will reveal a lot.

Then forget about your page rank, bcause a higher page rank does NOT equate to a higher ranking in the Search engine result pages (SERP's). What you need to do is to properly SEO your site, which is a process of keyword research and evaluation, matching up the keywords to your pages and site architecture, optimising the pages so that the page title and content, as well as outbound linking reflect it. Optimising the navigation structure and anchor text across the site, and then work on your inbound link structure, making sure you get deep links with the correct anchor text.

After you have done that, you will be on your way to ranking. Oh and the inbound links you have gained will also push up your page rank.

In order to increase your page rank increase your back links, you can join many Link Exchange Programs Including Automated Links Exchange Programs

I wouldn't join ANY automated link exchange as they leave an obvious footprint. Google is crashing down on people who are trying to manipulate page rank.

I think that one of the problems is that folks, particularly amateurs like me, write and design the web site with only a cursory understanding of what you have posted, then having got it up and running, then we try and get backlinks to it. The site is already limited in its scope.

That was certainly my situation, but my next site is going to be a lot better. It has to be because I'm moving into a more competitive market.

You wouldn't care to comment on the post to do with sticky sites and traffic would you?

A higher pagerank does not mean a higher ranking in search engines anymore...

However, what I have been experiencing is that advertisers tend to pay for their ads based on how good your PR is.... At least one of the most important factors for them is the PR.

So it doesn't hurt to increase PR but not for traffic purposes, rather for credibility among the webmasters and advertisers....

How to get higher PR? Get link backs from websites with higher or equal PR as you.

I would like to make another comment on this thread about a general misunderstanding with regard page rank.

People are saying 'get links from equal or higher PR pages than your own' ABSOLUTE RUBBISH! PR can not be diluted by linking to a lower PR value page, PR is RELATIVE to the factors already mentioned (PR value of page and amount of links on the page). A pr 3 page with only a couple of links is worth more than a PR5 with 100.

Ok. That's a relevation as I've also read in other PR topics of this forum about qualtiy PR. Some even pay top $$ for high PR (PR7 - PR9) sites so that their link can be in them.
