Why has Alexa traffic rank dropped dramatically?

Traffic Rank for http://www.thejoyoftraveling.com:
Alexa traffic rank droped 4,330,960 in 90 days to 6,046,683.

Can anyone explain this happening.

Alexa ranking is only based on the number of visitors who have the Alexa toolbar installed - Alexa ranking as a monitor of traffic is useless - monitor your logs/stats program for visitor monitoring.

This is a real scenerio. My competitor has way to low visitors than I have about 50% less but the no. of hits surpasses me 50% more. How come he's rank 500,000 while mine is still at 2,222,222?

Install the toolbar and visit your site more often.

For being new you sure have quite a handful of websites. Before you 301ed them to the site you list here you should have built more links first.

a 2 million jump at that end of the Alexa scale believe it or not does not really show much difference, a jump of 2000 in the top 20,000 would be more significant, I know that sounds crazy.

Get more traffic to your site by providing you site a signature while sharing your view/ideas on social networking sites- all of them are free. Get listed you site on many free directories. You will see for yourself how the ranking will jump up. You need manual hard work though.
