Default DogPile Search Engine

Dog Pile search engine is supposedly known as one of the best search engines however it runs off of other search engines like google, ask, ect.

What do you think of this search engine?

You are absolutely correct, dogpile is meta search engine. This is basically like subcontracting out searches to the other search engines. Search the major search engines at once!

Like every search utility it has it's place and usefulness.

Well I am not totally against it because I use it from time to time but most of the time I use good old google.com.

I like the layout, very open and inviting. Cool animation They have an Ad Network, though I tested this out, and it's not very legit or easy to navigate through at all.

Thanks for the share.

No I'm not against it either, it has it's uses, but like you I use Google first, then Yahoo.

The one problem I find with search utilities like dogpile is you dont always know where (which engine) the results come from.

Well like with dogpile it tells you which search engine that particular link came from but you don't know if it actually came from that search engine. Somthing else I also noticed about dogpile is that the Featured links and the normal links seem to get mixed up and unorganized.

It might be good, but how much traffic is it able to bring to a website?

Dog pile had a slogan once that says "all result no mess" (or something like that). I will like to turn that around and say its all mess no results.
Its a parasitic meta search engines, like most meta search engines such as Mama and others.

I agree with you temi, I would rather search on Google, instead of getting massive results, but nothing useful.

I am not a big fan of meta search engines, to be more specific, I've used them perhaps once or twice, and wasn't very satisfied with the results.

I like the concept, how they pile up results from several large SEs. However, I don't use it at all.. I don't want an excess of results.

Your last part is why the majority of the web users try to stick with search engines, and avoid meta search engines.

Agree, Dogpile is a meta-search engine that compiles all SEs informations and their search results...
