What is the best way.....

WHat do you think is the best way to get people to come to your forums.

~Note I am talking about doing free advertisment not paying for stuff.

What kind of forum do you have? If you would tell us some more detail about its subject maybe we can give you more effective advices.

I have a Game Dissussion forum/IPB Support and it is doing really bad any advice not to repeat what I just said in the first post.

Maybe you should orginize some kind of contest for some prizes. I think it will be able to improve your traffic, and if the competitors like the community you build they will stay there after the contest end.

And of course the Plan B is search engine optimization, though it's always the Plan A for me

Hehe, yeah SE is always plan A and then Plan B is directories that have PR3+

What kind of contest are you talking about?

Besides I would have to have somone else run the contests and prizes because I don't have the time to run contests and find prizes...I wonder if there is a Modification for IPB 2.2.x that runs "contests".

In that case plan B is already in action because I have already started submiting my site to a lot of search engines and to google about 5 times.

Daniel, please forget search engine submission, all you need is strong relevant backlinks. I today published a post about the effective free directory submission at my blog (link in my sig). Maybe you would like to try the method

Ok that still doesn't ansewer my question as to what backlinks are.

Back links are an SEO way to get a page rank, by getting a page rank you need back links in which when you come to me and ask if you can be listed on my site and I say yes or if you submit to a directory and they accept then you have a back link.

SEO is the best strategy but some forum software is not SEO friendly unfortunately.
