How many links do you need to get PR 5+.

I have:
(1) PR9
(2) PR7
(4) PR6
(5) PR5
and about 400 links PR 4 and lower

Linking to me.

Is that enough? and which PR can I w8t for?

Ps. My page is at PR3 as of now. 1 year old

It is not as easy as that. The transfer of PR value (well not transfer actually rather vote value), is affected by other factors, the main one being the numebr of links on a page. the PR9 link for example could get you a pr 5 on its own , but iof there are a load of other links (including internal) on the page, then it will lessen the weight.

Especially if they are not relevant to the content on your site.

I replied to this yesterday but it seems to have got lost in the winterwebthingy

here is the abriged reply.

PR transfer is not as simple as how much PR will I get from a PR9 page. there are other elements that impact on the value of pr voted.

Spot on OWG, if the PR distributed from any page is split equally amongst all the outbound links form the contributing page, so for any page giving PR with 20 outbound links, each page will only have 1/20th of the PR passed on. It does also depend if the contributing page has a related theme.

No. The site imagespy.org is a scam. DO NOT BUY A LINK FROM THERE! Here is a cached page from April http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache...k&cd=2 &gl=us

The site is associated with internet hacking sites and you can see in the code of the cached page that fake PR tools have been used.

Here is an actual Fake PR result from seologs which he states actaully verifys the PR
"We can't verify this pagerank.
Google says its a PR "5", but an info: check doesn't return any info, which is suspicious."

And why are a large number of links to the site from www.spygrup.org? (read their meta tags )

And isn't 17 ip changes on 15 unique name servers over the last year a bit excessive?

FTA,

You probably need at least 10,000 links to get a PR5.

EXACTLY!

I am slowly losing the will to live because of people making posts in threads without reading the content in the thread.

Let make a categorical statement here.

I will stake one of my testicles on a bet that you do NOT need 10.000 backlinks to get a PR 6 NO do you need thousands and thousands, NOR can you decide how many links you need!

LOOK please understand this SIMPLE FACT.

If a page is banned in google it has NO PAGERANK. if you get 10 MILLION links from banned pages you will have no visible toolbar PR value!

Sorry for appearing harsh here but some of us take time to explain how PR transfer works etc, while others make TERRIBLE statements like 'you will need 10,000 links to get a pr6'

ONE SINGLE PR10 backlink COULD give you PR7 or down.

PR is logarithmic, which means for example pr 10 = pr! to the power of 10 (for simplicities sake)
SO if you need '5 beans' to get bean rank 1 then 10 would NOT make you beanrank2 THAT would take 25 beans to get beanrank2 (pr1squared) an onwards to beanrank 10 Logarithmic.

BUT with Page rank it is different.

To TRY (for the last time) to explain how it works

Imagine you are at the supermarket. sometimes they sell things by the item. sometimes by the measure. Fruit and veg for example is normally sold by weight (i will use kilos for simplicity).

Can anyone tell me here how many apples I need for 2 kilos of apples? THINK about my question for a moment PLEASE, then read the next line

I HOPE most of you thought ' it depends how big the apples'.

The weight and size of the apples makes a difference. granny smiths for example are hard and dense so weight more per area. dessert apples are lighter as they are less dense. ALL apples come in different sizes.

OK then we have agreed that the answer to how many apples makes 2 kilos could be
one big one
2 slightly smaller but still quite big ones.
lots of small ones
one medium size on a large one and a couple of small ones.

LOTS of combinations.
But BLOODY 10,000 is NOWHERE to be seen is it

Can someone please acknowledge they now understand how PR works and stop me from slitting my throat LOL

You also got to keep an eye on how many number of links are there on the page that links to you. Of the page has many outbound external links it would contribute very less

Try the tool at http://www.check-rank.com/. This will allow you to enter the number of links from pages at different PRs and will return a predicted PR.

Warning - this is a PREDICTED PR as it assumes a number of outbound links from each page, do not treat any tool which predicts PR (including the iWebtool Pagerank) as 100% accurate.
