Am I just still to young?

Hello all, me again

I really appreciated all your help in the past few days. Here is another question..

My site...http://www.lilyputts.com is only 8 months old. I am aprox 307 in position on Google.

Is this good or about average for my age??

About how long does it take for things to move up?

Hi Michelle, the whole ranking question depends on the level of competition. For achiving nice search engine positions you need to be very patient. Try to help the improvement by using the targetted keywords as anchor text in your backlinks. Your site looks much better now, but i would like to suggest to change all the underlines with hypens in the URLs, since the still contains similar like this: lilyputts.com/pampered-pets_54.php.

Not very young, nor old enough since some sites take from 3 months to a year before they reach good ranking.

Its depend.. I think.. if you good in SEO... you'll reach high ranking in a few month.. yes somebody mention about backlink.. and of course quality content as well..

Hi, it is a competitive market and you need to spend some time to optimized you pages for the kind of keywords you have in mind. There are plenty of informations around - have a googling about search engine optimization. If you are done well with SEO, your site should be listed in the first 20-30 even though you couldn't make to the first 10 due to heavy competition.

I have noticed in the past week I am on the tenth page. After being on the 30th page for some time. I have been between postion 91 and 88 for the last week. For me this is a major jump. I just hope I stay there.

Key word...'gift baskets'

High Google paged index (put in more content), relevance and quality/quantity backlinks, reduced alot more flash files and put in more text based content, articles submission. All these are just some seo tasks i was working on for about 1 year now. My rank is about 12th - 30th from my different critical keywords.

What I have learned from everyone here is what I have been applying to my seo works. I have worked very hard optimizing and when I see results as I have I know I am heading down the right path. I have just jumped from the 30th page on google to the 10th page, search term: 'gift baskets' .

That there, well needless to say I did some celebrating, as there are many many gift basket places.

Heres to us both and others to someday being in the top 5.

Hi lilyputts, excellent work on the progress you've made thus far. Some things you might also want to consider in your SEO efforts that I've seen on your site are (1) the level of competition for the keywords you choose, (2) the density of keywords on your page, and (3) your linking campaign and backlinks. I noticed that you don't have a lot of hierarchy on your site in the backend HTML code - meaning you don't use a lot of header tags, image title tags, etc. All of these are important SEO issues.

I think you'll get some pretty good ranking. Increase your backlinks. Social bookmarking is good for this.

Your domain age is good. You need to try to get as many backlinks as possible.
