![]() | The Deal with google Page Rank First off PR only deals with google and only google People are obsessed with PR "PageRank" which is a numerical rank from 1-10 How do you get a Google PR? - You gain PR by having other sites link to yours. This is called a "Back-Link" How to loose PageRank? - Previous link partners are no longer linking to you - Link partners have decreased in PageRank - The number of links on a link partners site has increased - Increasing the amount of outbound links from your own site can cause you to loose page rank as well - A large increase of pages within your own site can also cause your PR to drop Misconceptions about Page-Rank: -Page-Rank will increase your sites position in google: This is a huge misconception as most believe that a higher PR rating will increase your sites position within the google search engine. Fact: It doest matter what your Page-Rank is if your site it not properly SEO'd "Search Engine Optimized" This does mean that if there were 2 comparable sites 1 with a PR6 and one with a PR3 both targeting the same audience the PR3 site could be placed higher in the search engine if it were more optimized than its competitor with a PR6. If both sites in this example were SEO'd the exact same "yes" the PR6 site would be placed higher in the SE. ~So having a higher Page-Rank then another site does not guarantee you a better placement~ -Getting a Back-link from a higher PR is better than a lower one Generally you want higher PR back-links since they are worth more however you need to look at the total number of out-bound links on that page. For example 2 sites one with a PR6 and one a PR8 PR8 has 112 out-bound links PR6 has 7 out-bound links From this example you will receive more PR from the PR6 site since the PR8 page needs to pass pr to all other 112 links rather then just 7 I hope this helps ![]() Richard |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Richard, your explanation is undoubtedly very valuable. But if i need to choose between a backlink from a PR8 site with 112 outbound links on that, and the PR6 site with 7 outbound links, i will choose the PR8. Some months ago i started to investigate this importance thing. The best resource i found so far which describe the differences among each value is this table. According to this the PR is esteem an exponential graph of the 5. A link from a PR8 site is 5*5=25 times more powerfull than a backlink from a a PR6 site. So you may multiply the 7 links by 25 which is 175. The PR8 site has less, 112 links on that, that will pass more PR to your site. If the passed PR from the PR8 site is less than from a PR6, i would rather choose the PR8 since that would increase my rankings much more because of the passed trust in my opinion.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Agree with Bagi. Richards text is misleading. Stuff like "So having a higher Page-Rank then another site does not guarantee you a better placement" it's sure correct, but so misleading. It makes you wonder if the the poster is either into hard sales or simply doesn't know that he's misleading. Either way I posts like this are not useful as so many people will be left with the wrong impression.

![]() | You are saying that my text is misleading ? Are you saying that having a higher pagerank Guarentees you a higher position in the SE? In that case i you sadly mistaken. It doesnt matter what you PR is if your not targeting your desired Keywords your not going to show up in the SE for them. Some one with the domain Dogghouse.com which is about House Repair and not a single mention of there key words "House Repair" in the title or meta or desc or anywhere on the page at all is not going to show up in the SE for " House Repair. Wouldnt Matter if they were a PR10. Thus why i said SEO PR has no play on weather or not your site is optimized for they keywords in the SE In regards to Bagi Zoltán Comment regarding Link Value - I would suggest a program such as SEO Elite, Its about $167 however its well worth it. It will anilize all your back-links as well as show you there link value Here is a list of current Back-Links i currently Have as well as there Link Value siteground.com/links.htm PR6 Outbound links=67 Total links=119 Link Value 0.0429 VS cheneywhite.com PR4 Outbound links=3 Total links=8 Link Value 0.4250 - As you can see this single PR4 link has more PR value than a PR6 What i believe you were missing out of the equaton was your TOTAL page links. Out-bound as well as on site links, Out-bound links drain PR as a whole from your site however a page with 100 links to other pages on your site will indeed lower the quelity of a link on that page as PR needs to pass through all those links to your other pages as well. This is why there is a term called "quality links" The more links on a page on site or off site lower the amount of PR that will pass through your link, any seasond SEO proffesional will agree with me. This is the same reason most Link To US scripts on sites say "we require a reciprical link with a min PR4 and no more than 20 links on the page" I know from experience as i have had links from PR 7&8 sites that had well over 200 out-bound links and 120 on site links and it increased my PR from 0 -2 & those were the only 2 links on a diff domain i had a link from 1 PR6 site that had 1 out-bound links and 3 on site links - Bumped my site from 0-PR4 |

It's a pity you use such wording as much of the second post I do agree with. PR does help, but it's only one thing of many that you have to consider.

![]() | Actually am building a huge Article directory and also posting own articles on strong site with at least PR4 and above (which hopefully will stay long). Guess by that, my back link would not be affected. |
