Sorry but that is completely wrong. Google update their backlinks and PR information CONSTANTLY. A good while ago now google moved to something callled everflux, which results in both backlinks and PR being allocated to your site within a day or so maximum of the spiders crawling (assuming the page was added to the index). This means that as soon as Google indexes a page, you get your link juice from it. Periodically however, google exports the backlink and the PageRank data to the forward facing side of Google. The toolbar and the various datacentres. I have to enforce on you that this is not an update as they are updated constantly, it is an EXPORT. For ranking purposes your bgacklinks and PR are added on a rolling basis. The other thing to note is that the exports to the toolbar and datacentre link: commands is always a few weeks out of date anyhow. Currently the dat being exported is approximately 3 months out of date. So this means that if there are on average 3 months between exports and the data is 3 months out of date, it is possible that you are seeing PR that is SIX MONTHS out of date ! Backlinks are not reported fully anyhow on the link: search, but you can get a better idea of your OWN backlinks from within google webmaster tools.

![]() | Hello, I have seen my predicted PR go from 3.6 to 2.3 overnight, with no change to my site http://www.luxurybedsets.com and no change in back links. Can you please try to explain this, or direct me to someone you can. Thank you zafer |

![]() ![]() | HI Zafer, you will drive yourself nuts if you obsess with PR. firstly predicted PR means nothing really, it is a prediction that is missing mnay factors such as the weight of links. Back links are not reported properly anyhow so again not worth worrying. lastly, google is updating so just go to the fridge, grab a beers and chill!

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi there, I have to give it to OldWelshGuy, he seems to know Google SEO and PR pretty well. You are right in saying they update constantly, although they do have a major update approximately every 100 days, across the span of about a week. Although this may be just to make sure that everything is correct if you get what I mean. But PR is NOTHING, yes that is right guys NOTHING. It is a inaccurate ranking of how relevant your website is to Google, although Google doesn't pick up all backlinks. If your website lives by the PR it will die by the PR! Regards, Kieran Taylor. |

| Newcomer | You're absolutely right! Majority of the people on Internet completely misunderstand the importance of PR. They live in illusion that high PR is very important, helping your site to get good position in SEs and bring in a lot of traffic. Well, PR is just an indication of linkage (amount of links to your website). It has nothing to do with traffic and very little to do with ranking in SEs.

![]() ![]() | For fear of repeating myself, Google state that there are two basic elements to their ranking alg 1. Importance 2.Relevance Now Importance is purely PR Relevance is link benefit and on page stuff also (there are actually now over 200 elements but best not to go there) IMPORTANCE (despite what the word suggests) plays a minimal part in the ranking algorithm.
