Default Site revamped: www.toptenlisted.com

Well, I gave my site a complete "wordpress-ified redesign", trying to correct errors, please browser formats, etc.

It even allowed me to add plugins, which makes navigation even easier. It is also easier to submit user-created top ten lists, and register, etc.

So, if there are still any problems or difficulties with the site, things I should add or change, or praise, I'd appreciate any feedback, comments, etc.

Site is in signature
Thanks

At the top of my site, there are menu tabs and the last tab is called "submit a list", which has instructions there, was it difficult to see?

One thing I would recommend is not having people register to get listed. If you site is not a high PR and daily flowing traffic I would recommend a free listing until you get up in the charts.

Just a suggestion

Great revamp.

Alright, but would you apply that to everything: adding lists, posting comments, etc.?

OK, I used wordpress to design the site, and they had different formats, plugins, etc. to offer users different ways of communicating, different roles people can be selected to.

One setting is to allow people to make comments on different posts, (which in my case allows them to comment on different lists that are already posted)

Also, I installed a plugin (TDOMF) that allows different users to "create posts" (In this case, users can submit their own top ten lists, independent of comments)

Hope this explains it

Sounds good to me, I don't see why not, but my focus is not the registering to get listed. You can place people in specific areas to work on. But having people register to get listed can be a big cheek turn for some people and will leave your site.

I for one, (just me) will leave a site that requires you to register as I don't want garbage being sent to my e-mail or have to login to get something added.

Again, this is just my point of view But if you want to place people in specific areas to be in charge of such as comments and allow them to do that , I think it's a great idea.

Also, when it comes to registering, all they do essentially is "join the community". You don't have to register to just view the lists, that sort of thing is completley free for anyone.

I think that this specific plugin requires users to register, not completley sure though.

I don't have anything like a monthly newsletter, I also have pages like privacy statement, disclaimer, which state that I don't sell it etc. Unless is even this considered too much for casual viewers?

When viewers are on your site, they want to be assured that nothing will be sent to them without their concent. Newsletters are good, keeps them updated, but anything other than that, not a good thing (which I know you won't do)

A policy statement and TOS (Terms of Service) statement is a plus to have. Reason for this is that people (inluding the engines) read this and understand that you mean business for your site and want to keep a liability policy low for yourself without having any issues arising on you.

Nice to see that it's free viewing

This is the same thing as a privacy statement, right? Because I have one of those on my site. I always thought it was traditionally put at the bottom of the template, so that's where I put it. Unless this is also not as clear as I'm trying to make it.

I would make it clear in plain view where everyone can see it. Just as a safety per-caution.

On a side note, for some unknown reason, it will randomly revert back to the "default kubrick" wordpress theme.

If it goes back to it, just wait until I reselect my custom theme, I have no idea why it is doing this.

Back up that them you have and place it on your desktop, and remove it from the wp-content/themes and then load it back up, see what it does.

I've tried many things, including that, without success. It's happened while I'm not even online.
