![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Okay, so with some discussion, we have decided to try a new idea(thanks to ChartMusic) with the signatures that will allow certain members to have up to 4 signature links. The links will be allowed based on post counts. However, if this causes anyone to begin over posting as an attempt to gain those posts faster than a natural speed, we might have to change this policy. So, we are going to try this for 2 weeks, starting now. It's important that you understand the posting guidelines so that you know that your posts are of good quality. To help you understand the posting guildlines, I would suggest you read the forum rules and the recent forum announcement. Here is how the signature policy will work: After your post count is at - You will be allowed 50 posts - 1 link 100 posts - 2 links 250 posts - 3 links 500 posts - 4 links It is understood that some members don't come to the forums often, but if you are at the forum at any point over the next few days, it is expected that you change your signature to reflect the new rules. If you don't, then no big deal, we will change it for you free of charge So basically, if you make any posts after 48 hours from the time that this is posted, you will need to adjust your signature. This means that if you don't have 50 posts yet, you must remove all of your signature links until you have reached 50 posts. I'd like to thank everyone for their cooperation in advance, thank you for understanding and helping us out. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Great idea. Just need to watch the quality of posts as you say.Mind you the posting numbers disabled in General Talk etc should help this. |

1.Members will try gain those posts faster and the forum will end up with lots of low quality posts. 2.If I'm allowed to add my 5th link at 50.000 posts, gaining 50.000 links over night will raise a flag to search engines and my site could get penalised for this.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | This is just temporary to see how it works out, let's see what it does before we jump the gun on bringing unknown issues. The top posting will monitored to see who is posting and also if found posting in a fast manor between each post, if this is caught, they will be receiving a private message and given a warning if not followed the first time. Again, just a temporary add, let's see how it goes ![]() |

Also to get to 50,000 would take at least 2 years daily posting here at iWebTool most likely much longer.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | For those who have not updated their signature yet, there will be a private message from a staff member asking you to edit your signature in request of updating them to the new signature policy. Thank you to those who have done this upon request, really appreciate it ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Wow, well, I'm glad to see some support of this new policy. Dessign, like was said, this is just a probationary period, we'll see how it goes. If we get too many over posters, then we have a back up system ready to take over. We are hoping that the members of the forum will take responsibility enough so that we don't have to monitor it, which I'm sure that you all will.... ![]() |

![]() | This aint gonna create growth at all. People are gonna think this is stingy and go to Digital Point which allows you a signature for ten posts. And has 20 times as much traffic all the time. Try to do different things to lure things in.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | We're not trying to lure anyone in....We are trying to improve the quality of what we already are, which is a high quality forum....DP can do what they choose, but that won't change the way we do things here, we don't craft ourselves after DP or any other forum. The most successful webmaster forum that I know of doesn't allow any links, beit signature links or post links.....So in reality, the type of posters that we are looking for here are posters that want to add quality to the forum, not posters that are after links. So with that said, well, that's all I will say. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | (I am not going against anyone here, just stating my view) In other words what jumpen has said is, if you're here to post links and make this an advertising spot for your site, then you're at the wrong place. People who seek quality expertise from those who know what they're doing and/or want to try and help are people who are not after advertising all the time and getting noticed. A link back on the forum to me is quality enough if you have a great site with content, and the forum has a good PR and is constantly active. DP does their own thing and we have no reason to ding them for anything they do, it's a forum owners rule and some owners do it differently than other so, and that is ok. If I could dig up the profile I found that has 1 link in his sig with over 4k posts for 1 year and 248 iTrader points and is making great money in traffic, then I would show you that links all over the forum is not a high priority. Enjoy the support you give to others, and make it where you don't need to post your link in your sig 2-3 times or in another thread all the time. If people find you as a superior support to the forum, I will bet you money on the table they will click your links because they want to see what else you do and are involved in. I hope this clears the air just a bit.. Again, I am not bashing against anyone at all, just stating my view and how I feel about the situation. |

![]() | Jumpen, I was just reviewing why you've made this change - not quarrelling with it just seeing if I understand the reasons. Is part of your reason to do with getting higher pr for the forum pages? I ask because going over the backlink checker for our site below, I find a fair number of Iweb tool backlinks but all of them are pr0. But two pages are pr4. One was a recent question about Paypal which drew a lot of responses. Another was your regular question whenever the Pr is about to change, when you ask people to record their anticipated Pr number and then to compare it again when it is finished. Why should these two pages attract Pr? If you reduce the number of outbound links will that improve pages pr overall? (Don't shoot me down in flames, I don't know anything to start with) John Look I've reduced the signature to only 1 link. There's a good boy.

![]() | ok, will cut off my links, and remain 2 of them... just to say, i not happy with it. the forum is not much high in traffic, will be good if can trade in some pr to more of my site. just another reason ripped off.
