What directory script do you prefer?

Hey IWT,

Just out of curiousity, what directory script do you prefer, name a few features of your preferred directory script. Please, also motivate your answer, name the features you like the most etc.

Lets start then?

I'm currently having a directory under construction, and I've decided to go with the phpLynx script, simply because it offers such a nice support over at the support forums, powerful features (free upgrades), they recently added deep link mod to their script (free upgrade).

Cheap price for such a great script, now some of you probably don't know much about php Lynx, but here's some quick info, it offers the best features, free upgrades, free support, both paid and free version available.

By the way, the paid php Lynx version I am running on, can be found at my directory E-Sweden, it's a swedish directory, still under construction, recently translated it, like the search? You're able to search by city, place and/or service, trust me it's the most SE friendly script out there, if you're curious please visit phpLynx - features.

I especially like the search in the paid version of phpLynx, the ability to search by name, place and/or service, and also a deep link mod, which costs 100$ for php LD, is free of charge in the Lynx script.

What script do you prefer, lets compare features, everyone is allowed to put their opinion here, please also remember to motivate your answer.

I would recommend PhpLinkDirectory: www.phplinkdirectory.com - Excellent devs, knows their work and gets things done on demand. Customers come first in their eyes, and THAT'S how a real business is ran.

Hey Steve, thank you for letting your opinion in. May I know if you've tried the php Lynx script? I'm quite sure you would like its features, friendly adminCP panel and not to mention it is a very SE friendly script, if you haven't already tried it, you should

I did try this, but finding a template was just to much work

I wasn't able to get my hands on a nice decent layout. http://www.prioritylist.info used to be a directory but is covering a position for http://www.nextsupport.org which is an SEO article site I have designed using WordPress.

When my DNS gets fixed for nextsupport.org I will give it a try again on prioritylist.info and if you have a design, then I will consider

We actually do have a very good free template available, and another one will be released in a day or so.

Wow, very impressive...but the deal is that If I were to get a template, it would need to be custom. So many directory owners have the same template, and with the looks of that design, in a few weeks almost every phplynx owner will have it.

Do you have custom designing that I can pay for to get one done?

Hello Steve,

I agree with the need to be unique, one of the weak points of phpld and some others is they have lots using the same templates, they say custom templates, but almost every template look the same.

@sheena that directory list is out of date, phpLynx review hasn't been updated, as we have released the paid version, and we do not have the signup page anymore, we have another system, like php LD's.

phpLynx is good directoryscript but i haven't used it ever before. I use phpld and esyndicat.

I use phpLD, eSyndicat, Site-Sift, phpLB and phpMyDirectory

Last night I set up my first phpLynx just to see how is working (the free version).

Still under construction but the script is great by the way, apart from the story with registration before submission

The registration during submission can be turned off,

Pop into your admin control panel,

Click the link Config Required Fields under the Configuration Menu,

You will see the last line displayed as

Show login input boxes on link submissions page True

Change this to False and the boxes will not be displayed on the submission form.

I'm only has 1 bid directory now.. thats using phplinkbid script. But I think I'll go either phpld or phplynx if I want to start web directory on next project..

I'm sure there has a lot of phpld free template on the web. Anybody know if there also got a lot free template for phplynx?

I did try this, but finding a template was just to much work I wasn't able to get my hands on a nice decent layout. http://www.prioritylist.info used to be a directory but is covering a position for http://www.nextsupport.org which is an SEO article site I have designed using WordPress.
