Hi guys,

Ok then, a brief bio.

I've been working online since 1995. Like many, my first gig was as a site designer. My first site offered free site design. The home page was a GIANT image of the earth from space, and the cool thing was, it only took 35 minutes to download it!

Then I got in to the ezine business. I created a Mac based list host and ezine ad agency which was eventually sold to Advertising.com, which was itself then sold to AOL, which was sold to TimeWarner, which was probably bought out by God, I forget exactly.

These days I'm in the web hosting biz, details in sig.

In the rare moments I'm not working, I like jazz, and love nature. You remember that, right? You know, that place beyond the Net. They have weather there and everything, cool!

Ok, that's me. Looking forward to hearing all your stories.

Ok, that was a good story. Now it's time to prove my cluelessness. Ha, I can code a web host from scratch, but I can't get my signature here to work. :-)

I give up, how do signatures work on this board? I had it working fine in the preview panel, with some of the text clickable (instead of URL showing).

It's no biggie, but I might as well do it right. Any tips? Thanks!

Phil, welcome to iWebtTool my friend!

Nice to see you got background experience on the web under your belt. Now, as for the link signature just use SiteName of course bbcode is the same as html but with [ ] formatting

Thanks for the welcome Steve. I'm excited about the new class I'm taking on signature technology, I think it's going to be the next big thing!

Hmm, sig still does not work. Works great in previews, but not when post is submitted. Exact same code works ok on other Vbulletin boards.

Is there perhaps a rule about active links in sigs until so many posts, or something like that?

This is what I get for posting an intro bragging about how long I've been around etc etc. :-)

We have a rule yet not active until 10 posts. Sorry got so busy I forgot to mention this, and didn't notice your post count.

Thanks for reminding me!

After the 10 posts your signature and post links will be active, BUT with nofollow attribute, which mean they will NOT be crawled for indexing.

When you hit 50 posts they will be enabled for crawling.

Hope this helps, and it's ok for the brag, you've earned them if you know what you're doing
