Default Google search problem

Hi,

I was searching something on Google and after the page 11 I received this:
Quote:
We're sorry...

... but your query looks similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application. To protect our users, we can't process your request right now.

We'll restore your access as quickly as possible, so try again soon. In the meantime, if you suspect that your computer or network has been infected, you might want to run a virus checker or spyware remover to make sure that your systems are free of viruses and other spurious software.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and hope we'll see you again on Google.

..similar to automated requests from a computer virus or spyware application?? I searched using the browser. I admit that I checked every page one by one but I don't think this would raise a flag.

My IP was restricted and now I can't go above page 11

Did anybody encountered such problem?

I have seen this warning notice many times. It was displayed for me when i generated too much searching query in a short period of time. Google can't judge the difference between automated queries and the fast human browsing.

Thanks Bagi, I did not know that. Anyway I think this is absurd and really really annoying.

It's back to normal now (after 10h)

I have seen the caution in one of my SEO tools. It does a metered search for SERPs (and takes a long time). I didn't know you could power through their limits manually. That seems odd.

I wonder what you searched because I've done the same thing (checking every link) on pages yet I was never warned after a few pages. Weird. Were you searching "home-made bombs"?

I've had it happen too....But no, I wasn't searching homemade bombs , I was actually searching "Lost Forum" on Google, but I make a lot of searches using Googles webmaster central, and I think that after you've made a certain number of queries, they disable your search abilities for a while. So I just used Yahoo for my searches until they lifted the temporary ban. I don't think that they do it based on IP, I think they set a cookie....So next time it happens to somebody, take a look at your cookies, and if you have any from Google, delete it and let us know what that does.

It's not cookie based, I've tried with different browsers and I encountered the same problem.

It started to happen again, especially when I'm searching in a specific domain "site:www.domain.com".
