Default To Yahoo or Not to Yahoo?

That is the question that I ponder on a daily basis. While I know yahoo has a lot of users still. Its not the pioneer in search engines it used to be. Maybe if they offered me a real deal on inclusion in Yahoo Directories then I'd think more of them.

I agree that Yahoo's engine sucks; I could search the same term in google and come up with results that I was actually looking for. I'm not really sure about deals on directories but Google will probably come up with something soon, their site looks frequently.

Yahoo is one of the best search engine because of the accurate result. But for Yahoo usually replaces the title and description of a web page in the crawler-based results with the information from the Yahoo Directory.

I think you need to look at the bigger picture, the reason a lot of people strive for inclusion is because a link from the directory is supposedly considered
a trusted link by other Search Engines, so it has far more wider SEO implications than just the possibility of increasing exposure to Yahoo users.

Hi there

Flip flop is right, its supposedly a trusted link, the yahoo directory directory article was very interesting had i had known that before i listed in yahoo i would have thought twice about listing in the first place and i certainly wont be listing again !!!

Eh, Yahoo is good, but not a promising directory, results vary and come up as said above (just like Google's) I was thinking about submitting for a paid position, but went for a free one, still waiting but I won't look to it as a promising happen

Consider this. DMOZ takes ages for your site inclusion. $300 is too expensive for link in the Yahoo directories. Hence, can one says "To MSN or Not to MSN" ?

Yes, I have noticed it too... One time, I found out that a site I've searched on Yahoo has an outdated description on the site.. It's still the old description that I've always see.. But when I checked it on other search engine, it has now new description..

I don't think Yahoo is how it used to be, I think a few years back the popularity was higher, however it seems Google is taking their users. Just as you said Steve, Google are on full speed now..
