Default Google Adwords

Well as a newbie website owner, I have looked into Google Adwords. Does anyone have any advice to make it work for you. And not throw money down a gaping hole?

Hi,

It is very easy to spend alot of money on adwords and get little return. Therefore before starting a campaign I suggest you thoroughly research your keywords. http://inventory.overture.com/ this link is useful. You should ideally find keywords that have little competition or else your cost per click will be high.

This website http://www.marketingwithmiles.com/top-ten-google-adwords-marketing-mistakes/ has useful tips. So you if you do decide to use Adwords this guide should be helpful. Good Luck.

I had a new site; used Google Adwords and all was fine; but suddenly they put it up to something like £2.50 a click! They claimed it was because my site was new and they couldn't be sure if the content was good enough as I didn't have a page rank, total rip off tactic if you ask me!

Unhappy Re: Google Adwords

Thank you.

Right now I am trying to get traffic to the site and of course get the visitor to buy.

This is a new venture for me and I don't want to throw money away that I don't have to spend. I did that 3 years ago. Sank $1500 in advertising in one month and got 2 sales at $10 a pop. So I lost my shirt on that one.

I said never again would I sink that kind of money into something that I won't get a return on.

Peace

D.

HI Peacock, please don't be offended but Google would NEVER say what you said they did. Maybe YOU read it that way though ;0

I will take a stab in the dark here, but my guess is that they said they were putting your minimum click cost up because your site had a poor google quality score?

Please confirm if this is the case, because if it is then I can help you (for free on here not touting for business I am too busy).

The google quality score includes a LOT of elements, one of which is the google landing page quality score. A simple bit of work and tweaking of the landing page, ads etc can get that old minimum click cost down.

UNLESS of course your site is a Made for adsense site and you are trying to use arboitrage to make money off adsense, in which case they should put your minimum click up to $50

Join it for Google Adwords costing $5 for activation. Before you start anything advertising used the Traffic tools and have an idea of the keywords you have in your mind. The BID is also different depending on the countries / regions you are looking (depending on the competition). In my opinion, adwords traffic tools gives a better traffic guideline of your keywords than the inventory.overture.com.

Once you are done with your keyword research - then consider a serious optimization of the pages in your website. Make sure the landing pages are designed appropriately if you have many keywords.

Once you have done all that - you are ready to go for the Ads with Adwords - never before that !!!!

Well about your question for $5/month - It sounds too low. Anyhow you have the complete control on your budget/day. You can pause the ads anytime you want and resume it anytime you wish.

Go for low budget at the beginning and within your control. Have different BID for search engine and content networks.

I hope it helps,

Best of Luck,

if you only have $5 ignore content altogether and stick with search. you are going to have to go for the wierd and whacky phrases that get a hadful od searches a month, so no one will be bidding on them.

If you reply to this thread I will spend some more time. i see you have not thgough so far so will hold it to this.
