I am in bad needing of more members on my site - http://www.killyourboredom.com so I am wondering how to get members to join there?

I am also thinking about to pay someone to get people to register my site, but at this moment I would like to try something that are free first before buy someone to get people to join my site.

If your lacking members, then you need to publish articles at www.ezinearticles.com and www.articlesbase.com.

Change of template will also do the trick, but if people don't know what your site offers they won't join.

Take time to re-design, and publlish.

Hope this helps.

The alternative way to increase member is to participate in forums and tells about your new forum. You need to add more topics that usually visit by the user.

Joshie,

You need to take time and define your market and expectations. Review your recent thread on "fishing", and then the comments and replies. They are all one-liners without any substance, excitement, or merit.

The opposite of "kill boredom" is "create excitement". The site fails miserably.

Admin signature blocks with crude language, and indiscriminate use of the F word in their posts will not attract people to join, let alone stay more than 5 seconds. Your niche is very narrow. The search engines depend on serving relevant results to their customers, and sites containing foul language will never make page one.

Define your niche relative to content, and then search out people who don't object to what is allowed on your forum and you may attract new members.

Hi, again, Joshie,

I left out mentioning the importance of first impressions in my first reply. The new look is great!... nice choice and a much better color scheme.

Your site is brand new, so don't expect much traffic from the search engines. The creation date was 29 Mar 2007 and registered for one year. To be taken seriously my advice is always register at least 2 years, and 5 is even better if it's in your budget.

Just as I found your site registration info and address in Kentucky, the search engines see this public information, too. There are some website owners who create sites for short term profit, and a large number are online less than a year. A 2 year www domain registration shows you intend to stick around.

The age of your site is one factor. Fresh content is another. You may want to consider adding content that relates to "fun" and "excitement" or inexpensive ways to be entertained. The blog may help because each post becomes a new page, and 2-3 a week adds over 100 pages to your site per year.

You could do reviews of theme parks, concerts, fishing trips, etc. instead of just small chit chat about likes and dislikes. Give people the solution to killing boredom, and they are more likely to stay longer, or join.

Until the site ages and grows, the best method to drive traffic and get new members may be referrals. Perhaps your existing members have a social circle of people they may want to invite. Referrals inherently add credibility especially when it comes from a friend.

The language aspect and age/gender "market" that you are trying to reach may help others offer more advice. Who do you want for members? Answer that and then consider where to reach that market. If it's the younger crowd then MySpace may be a community with like minded people.

Eventually as your site evolves and develops a "personality", you may want to look for affiliate advertisers with products that interest your typical members.

Finally, consider the text content of your posts. Key words relative to things that interest your audience will be picked up by the search engines, and using those key words or phrases will attract better search results.

You've made a good move with the look. Focus on defining your market and begin adding content to attract those people to visit, and stay. Good luck.

Jim
