![]() | Hello All I regularly analyse my back links and one thing I always notice is that I have less backlinks showing for Google. This is across the around 20 sites I manage or help to manage. Does anyone know why? Cheers Paul

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | As far as I know google shows only a little part of the total number of the backlinks since the developers want to protect the site owners from their competitors. After you logged in into your webmaster account they will provide more information about the inlinks.

| Newcomer | Google just shows backlinks of sites which are indexed; so may be the reason it shows you less number. |

![]() | The method 'sampling' could be the reason. But the most logical reason is that it wants to curb blind follow of linking pattern of successful websites. This way they are reducing the possibility of anybody tracing the successful websites for linking. With regards, Mandar Thosar

![]() | Well there are many pages where you put the link but most of them are "No folllow" links which does not have any importance in Google. Thus Google shows only those links which does not have the No follow tags. |

![]() | Google is just showing a "sample" of the backlinks. It is apparently to protect competitors from messing with one another's links and PR. If you compare Alexa, Google, Yahoo, and MSN, they don't all show the same backlinks. They probably have different criteria as to what is a valid link and whether or not the linking site is actually indexed by these search engines. |

![]() | Google show less numbers because of the sampling, however your complete back links count for the alogrithm will be different from what you see in visible. Additionally if you see supplemental results, it means too many copies of same information especially all the reciprocal exchanges are failed to get a good PR for users because of this reason. |

![]() | Backlinks in Google appeared only in samples or random. They don't show the real backlinks of your page. I agree with bagi maybe Google is protecting site owners their competitors...That's why? |
