Default Traffic is vanity. Sales are sanity. Just give them one decision to take

Most of you will agree that traffic is not everything. You would all be the first to argue for qualified sales leads, with the right prospects in your target market, hitting your web site at a time when they are ready to buy.

But there is a problem with this. It is called competition and it should be banned.

I've taken more out of this forum than I have put in, so thanks to everyone who helps on the questions. But here is an issue for discussion.

It depends on the web site of course, and on what you are selling. No hard and fast rules for everyone. But I see a lot of web sites which do not give everyone the full information they need for making a decision. They give people information and then ask them to mail in or telephone.

Hotels are notorious for this, they hardly ever show what availability they have. Many sites don't tell you what stock they have available. Many sites require you to contact them before you buy.

Mistake. Why? Because in many markets - travel, medical oh, so many, the people will visit many sites, then narrow them down to a short list, and make a final choice.

Because they want to make a decision there and then, they'll give it to the site that gives them full information.

Well, that's my two cents' worth. I'd be interested in what you guys/gals think.

The point you brought up here is very relevant to the Web3.0 discussion.
Quote:
The best way to sum up Web 3.0 is to say that, in the future, everything will be smart. No longer will you need to go to several web sites to research flights and fares, then book your own ticket with your credit card information on a particular site. In Web 3.0, you'll just send your software agent on a mission to watch for and book a flight that meets your criteria at the best price (and at the last possible second, giving you more flexibility than you had before). You will be able to see the records for every flight you ever take on any airline, how many miles you have, where you went, what happened to your luggage, etc - all in one place

Yours is a very very interesing piece Jethrotul. It is a bit of a scary prospect though. If a machine completely understands our intentions we lose control.
But then, everything new is a bit scary.
