Suzie you do NOT need to worry about increasing your page rank. you need to worry about marketing your site. Although if you market it right PageRank will follow.

Thought that the better the PR, the more your site would appear in Google adsence? Need your expertise on this as im still a novice on SEO.

Is it true that you should focus 'backlinking' on site with PR 4 & above so that it would reflect better in Google backlink registry instead on Yahoo or MSN registry.

I have a question, I found an old blog site (2005) and most of the pages you could post on that site had a PR of 2 to 5. So I put a post on each page with my URL. There must have been at least 50 different pages I posted. Was this a waste of time as far as increasing my PR? Seemed to easy......)

one more question, does it improve your PR if you have more than one backlink on a page?

Think you need more than 10 backlinks. Also if your site is at least 1 year and above, you'd have better PR. Anybody got any feedback on this?

jwd25, the PR reflects the importance of a given website. Google sort the results by their relevance and importance, so if you can improve the importance of that the renking will be better as well. As you said every search engine has a unique algorithm. Google like link popularity, yahoo! like on page optimization, and msn like the proper meta tags. Personally i don't think that the PR would connected to the domain age directly, but indirectly.

duker665, blog comment links are regularly get nofollow attributum, which stop the PR flow, and won't increase the link popularity in the eye of google.

Hello,

I'm starting with SEO, it's really interesting !

Now I have a question about backlinks :

I set up a new site 10 days ago and submit it to many directories
when I search Google for mydomain.tld on google it finds about 150 answers
but when I search for link:mydomain.tld, no result

Now I saw on a previous topic that this info is updated by goggle about each 3 months ...

But I try the backlink checker on the main page of iwebtool, and i got
2 days ago : 4 BL's
a few hours later no more BL's
yesterday : 7 BL's
a few hours later no more BL's
today : 31 BL's
and again a few hours later no more BL's

Where does this tool finds these BL's, why don't they stay and grow ???

Chose a related site to link with and you site will be back again.

Hi temyong,

you mean link exchange with sites of the same category ?
how can I know Google will consider them as "related"

My last working backlinks check gave me 247 BL's ! But they're gone again
And a predicted PR of 3.8 (still there, thats why I wonder if there's no problem with BL check, cause as I understood I uses BL's to compute the PPR)
