Default whois info protection

Several domain registrars offer protection for registrants' contact information (e-mail, address etc.), but do show their name, claiming that this is a requirement by ICANN. But some hide also the registrant's name. Is this a violation of ICANN requirements?

I think maybe the ICANN has the real information.
But the information doesn't publish to whois system if you add private
domain registration.

it is not at all.

a lot of registrar can provide private protection service, use the public message instead of ur private message.I think this can protect customer's private.

this kind of service seldom provide for free, but http://www.plusregister.com now provide free private protection service, you can register on this website.

ICANN might be knowing this. The name of hosting provider cam also be hidden which makes the whois information of a website completely private.

Some providers offer free private domain registration, such as: 1&1, Netfirms, etc.
HostDomainZone.com's price is $1.95.

It's just one more way for domain owners to saveguard themselves from cybersquatters.
I registered my domain names with my host hqhost.net and unfortunately they don't provide this kind of service.

P.S. I wonder if the date of domain registration can be hidden or not?
