![]() | Web Hosting Company Reviews My Reviews are designed to be another tool for you to use and to help you make a better informed decision. Better to spend a few days researching than to spend weeks regretting your choice. If you are looking for unbiased reviews or information about a particular web hosting company This is the place for you. How this works: Step One PM me the web hosting company in question. Please include company name as well as site URL Step Two I contact the web host in question requesting test accounts and information regarding different aspects of there service The Review In the end you will receive a detailed report that may includes a review of the following: . Company reputation . Company history . Web Hosting packages . Price value . Reliability . Customer service . Features offered . Web control panel . User feedback . Ethics . Third-party endorsements . Awards All reviews are unbiased written with no affiliation with the web host in question. The only one to gain is the reader. Last edited 05-04-2007 at 06:39 AM. |

![]() | SiteGround Review I was recently very pleased to be able to take an in depth look at this particular company. To some its considered to be one of the biggest and most respected hosting providers available. Currently hosting 60,000 websites by nearly 45,000 customers. They must be doing something right. At first glance they seem to be an aggressive giant in this industry. However once you crack that outer shell and gain entry to there incredible user friendly interface, you will wonder how you lived without. ![]() Among other factors including incredibly fast and courteous support, I was very impressed with the level of work put in by there staff to give you the best possible service. Its evident that a great deal of thought was put into there user interface as the simplicity is just amazing. There service also includes the all familiar Cpanel. You will notice all the features your used to including Fantastico. However what will grab your attention immediately is the speed at which everything loads. This is due to the 1gb connection and its because of this they have seen clients upload and download data with speeds, greater than 10MB/s (10 megabytes/per second). This speed of course is limited to your own ISP. When confronted with the question about overselling I was insured that SiteGround has taken all the measures to ensure that any customer, whose website complies with the Terms of use, will be able to use all the features that are included in SiteGround's offer without endangering any other customer website performance or resulting in server performance deterioration. This is of course a very important issue as 95% of all host's do oversell. However there two ways of doing this, the right way and the wrong way. The wrong way: Such companies rely on the fact that they will attract many customers at once by their exaggerated offer with no intentention of honoring it. The right way: Having a strategy in place for those actually intending on using all the resources available to them. From my somewhat blunt and almost insulting questions asked about this issue and from the reply's received I can honestly say that SiteGround has a definite strategy when handling this. In closing I would like to share the most important and usually the selling point of any web host. You guessed it, uptime. As you can see from the screen shot taken there goal of 99.9% uptime is a reality ![]() With lightning fast servers, helpful support staff, and ease of functionality, we at Web Hosting Review highly recommend SiteGround as your next web host. In addition we award Award SiteGround for its commitment to excellence. Reviewed By Co Founder Web Hosting Review Richard Joseph |

![]() | Host Gator Nightmare! Internal Review I emailed Host Gator about 11 times asking them to submit there hosting plans and business details within our directory. Also I sent about 3 emails asking for a 7 day test account for this specific review. Well this is how it all started. I received this email Quote: Richard, Your Ticket has been received and a member of our staff will review it and reply accordingly. Listed below are details of this Ticket. Please make sure the Ticket ID remains in the subject at all times. Ticket ID: FHE-690589 Subject: WebHostingReview.ca requires your business details Department: Sales Status: Open There is also I link to the support ticket which I decided not to post. when clicking the support ticket URL I received this error: Quote: ERROR: You do not have enough permissions to access this page. Please loginby entering your Email and Password. So in pursuit of my questions regarding a test account I start a live supportchat. I am greeted with what I'm sure is an automated warm welcome followed by a support tech who must be typing 3 words a minute. I supplied him with the support ticket to which I was getting the error and he asks me to wait a minute. 10 minutes later, he returns to inform me that every email that I had sent was trapped by there spam filter.. He then informs me that any email that does not have the term "HostGator" within the body of the email will not be forwarded, Also that I should rewrite the email and use this term as it will "Increase" the chances of getting past there spam filter.. Now with a web host with such a vast client base, I would think they would have some other form of spam prevention. How is someone that needs help to know this ? No where does it say how to "Increase" your chances of contacting a representative from there company. I have never used HostGator myself, I don't think I ever will Current users of HostGator reported The setup took 4 or 5 days (when a competing host had them up in 24 hours). Not only that Their customer support kept giving them the run-around. 1 Thing is for certain HostGator although very big and popular has support issues, Many think there support is rude and unprofessional. In addition the ethics of there marketing tactics are questionable. There have been reports that a few months ago a couple of sites were offering free hosting so that they could convince their sign-ups to upgrade to HostGator for one penney. The free hosts then vanished suddenly with their affiliates' earnings. It was of course reported it to HostGator and they said they would investigate. No update as to the outcome of this investigation either Its our opinion here at Web Hosting Review that HostGator failed our review. Furthermore do not recommend them as a webhost as they have questionable business practices If we are not able to contact them, how is a current client. Richard |

![]() | Hi Richard, I just went through your hosting website its a very good deal (500 GB Webspace and 5TB bandwidth). I'm looking for ASP.net & MSSQL Server combination and I pay the same deal what you guys give but to godaddy. The only thing which I don't like about them is, I don't have access to the rawlogs they have some stupid stats software, I'm with them for 2 years and this is my third year haven't seen any one closer to them. Are you guys planning it for the future since IIS 7.0 is coming out real big. |

![]() | congrats for your honest attempts, Richard Joseph. But I must point out that your review of hostgator is one sided and doesnt reflect the genereral feelings. I am sure the vast majority of hostgator users have a differnt story to tell. No they dont pay me for pointing this out I honestly believe, when you are doinng a neutral review you must really be neutral. Here you were being so harsh without even hosting with them for a single day! |

![]() | alemcherry Thanks for the feedback, i would like to respond to your comment if I may. First off all reviews are one sided in the fact that every person has there own opinions on companies. That being said What I offer here is Unbiased reviews meaning there from my own personal experience either in the past or while conducting a review. Im not affiliated or compensated in anyway while writing these reviews. My Personal Key Factors of what i consider a great host. *Support *Uptime From what I experienced from HostGator was just baffling and almost scarey. I have been in the hosting industry for over 10 years and never have i delt with staff with such little knowledge of server functionality and i must say when i keep being told to "please hold" 20 times over for a simple question which stretched into a 45 min support chat which should have taken no longer than 5 minutes I was not impressed. In addition when in came to contacting there sales rep via email, that was just ridicules. It took another 30 min support chat for them to figure out that i needed to have the words "HostGator" within the body of the email for it to pass through there spam filter. They may have the best possible service in the world and even if i were able to test it i would still fail them misrebly because of there support and how they manage there system. This would be like them giving you your user ID to login to your account but not giving you the password Support is a Huge factor when considering a host, specially if the end user doesn't have much knowledge when it comes to hosting. There support takes you on the run a round not giving your direct answers, now this may work for newbies but really irratates veterans such as myself.. Im sorry but i stand by my review |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | VERY well said Richard and yes Uptime and Support is a huge factor as I work for Lunar Pages (Cage Tech) Remotely at home and I for one do not deal with or allow slow reports to the customer. If anything the tickets and chats need to be monitored more and reviewed at a higher extent in it's TOS. At any rate, Richard has made a farly well pointed out example and it's obvious that any host who does not support at the level of the customers needs (valued to their money's worth) then it's not a host to be doing business with at all, nor to be recommended no matter how well their services are in the backend, Support follows a major factor. Well said Richard. |

![]() | After many requests for a review of this particular host we have decided to check them out Ya-Host.com has been in operation since 2005 owned and operated by a small crew located in Fort Worth Texas. What first caught our attention was there claim to be their own Data Center. Skeptical at first I asked for some kind of proof, which was happily supplied. With their consent we contacted there internet provider which validated there IP’s associated with their servers. There claims now became fact Ya-Host does in fact run as their own DC That aside and test account in place, we proceeded with our review. Server speed was fast, newest version of cpanel was installed, however what caught our attention was the fact that Fantastico was nowhere to be found, However in its place was a program called Installatron. With some experience with this auto-script installer I was very pleased that it’s being used, in fantastico’s place. I hope to see more web hosts incorporating this program in the future. When it comes to support I was impressed how fast their staff was to respond and how knowledgeable they were. “There’s nothing worse than having a support tech that’s trying to help you while getting their info from a troubles shooter tick sheet “What sets them apart from the rest is the fact that they not only own their servers, but also the facilities that they run under. No third party or external Data Centers which can cause confusion when a problem may arise. In today’s hosting industry there’s a growing number of resellers and even master resellers whom try to pass as a hosting company while not actually owning a single server. Now not all reseller’s are bad as I personally have dealt with some great ones in the past, however there is a growing concern of the number of young entrepreneurs’ from the age of 12 that are passing themselves as a Web Host by paying a monthly fee. The majority of such companies do not last 6 months in return pass allot of stress and confusion to the end consumer. Benefits of providers such as Ya-Host are vast, some key ones are listed below:
Providers such as Ya-Host are a rare breed, even some of the largest and most respected web hosting companies on the internet today still outsource by using external data centers. I firmly believe that Ya-Host is one of those rare gems and highly recommend them as your next web host. |

![]() | Richard, I beg to differ from your review about ya-host.com and its server response very slow compared to other hosting which you reviewed in here earlier. The lifetime hosting signup has some problem with IE and its SSL certificate. http://billing.ya-host.com/order.php?step=2&pid=13 |

| Newcomer | Thank you Richard for the nicely put Review. Yes we do try to answer all support reqs in a quickly timed manor We do operate a small DC in our own Office. and have instant access to any of our servers when the need arises. We are a Locally own Global Company that serves a vast amount of web sites including Reseller and Dedicated server accounts We have watchdog programs in place to monitor our servers and we do not overload or Outsell our servers, we dont pile in our clients all on the same server and bog them down. as for our connection yes we have an 3MB SDSL Connection that we will soon be upgrading to a Full T1 line within the next few months The cert is made from our own server this is a warning that you must accept the trust relation for our site . The site is safe to use and the data is incripted
