The Official PR update thread

The PR for my site was unchanged at PR4, but I think I will be able to change it to PR5 without any problems before the next update. The PR predictor at iwebtool says my site already is a PR 4.4 if it can be trusted. At least it predicted correct PR for my site (PR4) on this update.

The three internal pages which was waiting for PR got as expected PR3.

I have a question, I found an old blog site (looks like it was abandoned in2005) and most pages you could post on that site had a PR of 2 to 5. So I put a post on each page with my URL. There must have been at least 50 different pages I posted. Was this a waste of time as far as increasing my PR? Would I be better of posting more than one url on each page? Seemed too easy......)

You have to air on the side of caution with something like this, blog spamming is the new guestbook spamming and I think Google will if not already become wise to it. I'm not saying you should not use blogs as method of obtaining backlinks, far from it, just avoid the ones that have been exploited to death by others, you know the ones, they have 1000's of comments filled with Gambling and Viagra ads

, don't follow suit and spam all the entries to death.

Also keep in mind that some sites have 'nofollow' tags in link or the meta tags, you can check this by viewing the page source.

Finally keep in mind that a lot of emphasis is put on quality, relevant backlinks, so a PR3 backlink from a site that is revelant to your own site is worth far more than PR5 backlink from a site that is not.

why would a web designer put a "nofollow attribute" on their site? to stop spamming?

There are many possible reasons why somewone place nofollow attribute. Maybe he wanted to stop the the PR leakage, or didn't want to link to irrelevant, or bad neighbour sites.

They count them but they have no weight to them, you may even see them listed in backlinks tools but they have no weight.

The last PR Update was last April 28. The page rank of our site is still the same but there is PR update on my blog site.
