Default Godaddy subdomain problem?

I have a godaddy hosting account and I have several subdomains. My problem is that www does not work in front of the subdomain. I understand that this is improper but everyone mistypes it and I need to make sure they are properly directed to the subdomain.

I basically would like it to work like this site does or like how yahoo movies works. http://www.movies.yahoo.com gets directed to movies.yahoo.com.

I have tried several things including the rewrite code below. Here is what happens.

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.(.+)$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://%1/$1 [R=301,L]

If you type: subdomain.domain.com everything works ok
If you type: http://www.subdomain.domain.com I receive one of two errors. If I set up a wild card in godaddy’s DNS manager with the same IP as my subdomain I get a Forbidden 403 error (You don't have permission to access / on this server). If I remove the wildcard I get a domain name not found error.

I was told that I may be able to fix this my modifying the virtual host config file but does anyone know how to get to it on go daddy.

Thanks,
John

Try getting domains from Dynadot.com they are fast and have no problems. Their DNS updates every 5 minutes.
