My site is extremely active, yet has a very low Alexa rating. I never understood the whole process, to be honest with you.

Alexa is a useless metric...don't stress... It can be easily manipulated. If you really want to increase it, install the Alexa bar in IE and visit your site every day - it's sad, but that's all it takes.

It's going to die out, as people realize it's useless.

I have almost given up on Alexa. Even though visits to my site steadily increases I see no positive development on the Alexa rating.

Alexa Rank tool has still value for a site and give realistic result for a site.
