![]() | No, they do count, that's why we limit the number of links you can have in your signature to 2. It spreads the pagerank evenly Your sig links are nice, the keywords in them really help.

![]() | Thanks Matt, Kenni, and what about mentioning the url like http://www.iwebtool.com is this more effective than signatures?

![]() | Well at the moment joan - the links in your signature have a nofollow tag which means the search engines won't follow them. They are still useful though from a traffic and affiliate point of view. Some people seem to not have the nofollow attribute in their sig though. i guess its something to do with seniority - maybe you can buy it with your ipoints or something. couldn't see anything about it in the faq... thomas ps if you are using firefox there is an excellent extension called search status - a must for search engine optimisers - that highlights nofollow links. |

![]() | So once reaching a postcount of 50, signature links become followable? And another question: is it the link itself, or the keywords associated with the link that improves your chances with the SE gods?

![]() | Hey Thomas, thanks for your reply - I accidentally was visiting your site b4 reading your post, lots of interesting things about page rank etc. I must admit that Im an absolute beginner when we talk about page rank, seo, serps, google etc. Im working as an interpreter and now and then but not so often I visit these forums for a short time and hope to learn new stuff cuz we all know it's very important to understand SEO nowadays. Just now I actually was looking for information about OUTBOUND LINKS as Im mentioning on my site some links but up to now I was never thinking about the fact that these links Im linking to can cause me problems concerning page rank. Since my site is indexed the very first time by google on December I show the url names of these sites instead of hiding them, making the url's unreadable eg with form actions, javascript or even with the other one which cause the invisibility of my sig here. NOW I SEE! That explains your post above and I am really taken aback with these two states answering first my thread's question. Thomas or anybody else ,can you have a look at my site http://www.jpadilla-international.com/ and 1.)check out whether these outbound links could make problems regarding page rank ( I suppose yes ). 2.)Shall I exclude them and exchange them with links with no pr or shall I just hide them with html or rel? 3.) How many outbound links can I place on my site, as much as I want, as long they are hidden? 4.)How can I make google read a linktext above the hidden url to be considered as a keyword for my serps? Can I place eg several textlinks like my sig you can see below would google considered those as keywords and phrases or would google consider those as spam? Best regards, Joan

![]() | Very new to SEO stuff but have learned a lot over the past week from a couple of forums I visit quite frequently (this one included now ) When ya'll ask do Forum Links Count are you referring to inbound links towards your website page rank? If it does count towards Pagerank is it better to have a link Shown as a www address of as a Text link r is there a difference in regards to pagerank improvement? Thanks for your feedback ![]() |

Correct! Quote:
Yes. If you have a particular keyword assigned to a particular website then you should get ranked for it. For example, pagerank prediction will get the "pagerank prediction" ranked better for that website.

Awesome, good technique to know (I had no idea). What about images? In some other forums I am a member of, my signature is an 80x15 button linked to my site, with no other text. How will that do for my ranking?

![]() | House of rock - the advantage of using a text link is that the text in the link (the anchor text) is taken into account by the search engines. the link is a like a sign to your site saying this is a good site and its about 'House of Rock'. So if your site is 'House of Rock' then that's likely to help you to rate better for that phrase in the search engines. Now if you use a linked image, you don't have the oportunity to specify that - you just get the sign to your site saying this is a good site. So its still good but not as good. If it was a link on your own site then you could use the ALT (or alternative text) attribute on the link but I don't think you can use that on most forum software. i hope that helps! Thomas |
