![]() ![]() | Yes, the speculation was true. Google has bought DoubleClick for almost twice what they paid for YouTube last year, $3.1 billion! In cash too! Source: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/14/te... &oref=slogin

| Regular Member | What amazes me is it was a pure cash deal. Google can be rather tight with their cash capitol. But looking @ the revenue DoubleClick has made and reported even the last few years, it is a great buy. Heck, everyone was trying to get them including Microsoft: http://www.odditysoftware.com/blog/a...google_37.html |

![]() | I'm surious to see what Goog will do with DC and what possibilites or ramifications this might have with Adwords/Adsense. I would be willing to bet that in the somewhat near future, we will see the two come together in some shape, fashion or form. I can't blame Gogg...I think it was a very good decision to make this purchase. tc

How do you know? If it did, how come it hasn't? Quote:
That's not their goal.... they don't want to hurt the economy on the Internet; it would only hurt them too and they know this. (AdWords!) Speaking of AdWords, there's been some speculation as to why Google purchased DoubleClick with their tremendous AdWords program already. Analysts believe that they speculated on DoubleClick for a long time as kind of an "escape route" financially in case AdWords failed them (as presented by one of their PR people) ...maybe they sense it coming? Or just want to be prepared? Either way, Google's doing well.

Their goal is to make big bucks. If they see the oppurtunity, the need, & want then I'm sure they will purchase a lot of big sites. As to why haven't they yet, well no matter how much a company is worth you can't just purchase all kinds of companies at one time. They'll do it over time. I doubt Google is concerned about anyone other than itself. Buy out & merge with the competition is an extremly smart business strategy if the company can. Which I suspect we will see much more of that from Google in the near future. | |
