I have to say your site had me hooked for the last 35 minutes.

Its not a subject i would normally take the time out to read, but i found some interesting facts.

Very nice site indeed! Very interesting topic, well-structured content.

I have a few small notes only:
- it would be good to add navigation to the large gallery view. I.e when you click on some thumb to see the large image, next to the large image you can have some arrow 'next' or something. Thus you don't have to click back to the thumbs to see the next image
- might leave some space below the end of the left navigation links so the site may breathe. Currently on some pages I feel like everything is filled with text, there's absolutely no blank space to balance the content
- some of the left menu links have current menu effect, others dont
- the contact form is not well formatted, suppose you are still working on it
- on http://www.rogerphilpot.com/coalhistory.html the left margin of the text is not constistent w/ the other pages

The above are just minor notes though, you've done a great job overall, congratulations!

oh man I love the site. The design is very simple but I find it so... representative of what you talk about. I also find the pictures you use very fit for the colors and layout of the page.

Some of the photos in the gallery I find too sharp, but the overall is pretty nice.
