| Junior Member | Overall, what do most people think is a better platform for web development... PHP or ASP? Or is it just personal taste? I'd like to know this for future predictions on the life of either of these. ------------- Will html always have a future??? |

![]() | PHP is better because it is more popular, you will find far more free php scripts than free asp scripts, and also it is easier to learn than ASP. You'll be able to get more jobs with php than asp if you are a freelance programmer.

| wo0h0o | If you look mostly big CORPS/SITES use ASP, look: www.tunisia.com. ASP pays more money than php jobs do. Personally I only used a tiny bit of ASP.NET, but prefer PHP! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi there, It also depends on what server you have; Windows = ASP, ASP.NET, PHP Linux = PHP I actually prefer PHP because there is more support. Regards, Kieran Taylor. |

| Senior Member | www.php.net is the official guide ![]() PHP is open source and for that reason, I really like PHP. It's also free and widely supported. ASP is the Microsoft standard for web development. So if you prefer the more expensive but maybe more stable route of development, then head over to ASP hosting. ![]()

![]() | It's really personal preference and what you feel most comfortable with! I myself find PHP much easier as a server side scripting language then ASP! PHP is capable of doing about the same as ASP minus a few quirks here and there but, if you have not programmed before I would definitely say PHP is the choice for the novice user.. Its much easier to learn and easier to integrate...into an exisisting website But thats my opinion! BloggingFusion ![]() |

![]() | ASP.net is quite ok if you have a background on using Visualbasic.net but i prefer to use PHP its very challenging.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi there, Depending on what server side scripting you decide to learn, if you learn one, the other is pretty easy to migrate to, they are both pretty much the same, they just use different syntax. Regards, Kieran Taylor. |
