![]() | I am new to this forum and relatively new to being a webmaster. I have been reading and educating myself on pageranks, search engine optimization, keywords, etc. Also, I am aware that getting good quality relevant back links from sites that have a higher pr than me is the best way to get Google to give me a pagerank. Easier said than done. Currently, though Google tells me my website is indexed (using Google's own webmaster tools), it has a pr of 0. I know it is relatively new (started it last November), but I am very frustrated since I personally know of and have seen other websites that are newer than mine and already have a pr of 2 or 3. When I look at them, I don't see how they did it, when I have not been able to do it yet. What am I missing? How many links are needed to get Google to take my site seriously? I am generally pretty patient, however, I would really appreciate any good feedback here. If there is something else I am not doing and need to be doing, then please tell me. Here is my website url, if anyone would want to check it out and can see something obvious I need to change: http://www.arlenesartworks.com Thanks! Arlene H |

![]() | First: Go to http://www.directorycritic.com and http://www.addurl.nu/ and submit to all the free directories you can. Submit to the ones with highest PR first if you want. Second: Spend 200-300 dollars on submitting to paid high PR directories which got a high PR also in the category you want to get listed. You will find a list of paid directories at Directory Critic and at addyoursitefreesubmit.com. When submitting to paid high PR directories, first submit to those who will list your site for an unlimited time to get the most out of your money. When you start making money on your website you can submit to those who charges per year for getting listed. To avoid getting tired of writing the same text in the many directories for several days, use Firefox and the addon Formfiller.

![]() | A low PR is easy and free to get. Just exchange some links with relative sites if possible, also submit to as many directories as possible. You'll have to wait a while for the PR update again though. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Start with the BASICS first. Dont do anything till you have those right. Meta tags, keywords etc. Make sure no links on your site are broken. Make sure your content is relevent to your keywords. Create a site map and submit that to google. etc etc.... Register direct with Google, dont rely on submission tools. Then work on quality backlinks to your site. Submit to as many directories as you can Become active in a few quality forums. This alone will give you a PR4.... Higher than pr4?....get there first!!!! |

![]() | Thank you to all who replied and made suggestions. I have done a lot of what has been suggested, including meta tags for keywords and description, relevant content that changes regularly, submitted a site map to Google, submitted to directories, and am exchanging links with other art and art-related sites. I am indexed by Google, and my host statistics page shows me that Google regularly visits my webpage. Thanks to VPM for the suggestions about directory listing sites. I am going through them now and sorting through the ones that offer free listings. I am not in a financial position at this time to spend $200 - $300 for paid listings. I am already listed on some of the directories and have submitted my site to more - at least the ones that have an appropriate art category (not all do). I guess that is all I can do for now - continue exchanging links and submitting to more directories. And wait for the next Google PR review. I hope that is soon!
