| Junior Member | Hi What would happen if everyone using iwebtool (forum) put their hand up for a massive links page(s). The idea is everyone puts their link into this page(s) and all those people upload the page(s) to their website. Wouldn't that be awesome? *i understand the issue of unrelated links but even so, they would add up nicely. |

I don't get what you mean, please expand! It sounds to me like you are wanting to create a link farm, if so, Google 'link farm' and see what dangers webmasters can get from such entities. Regards, Kieran Taylor. | |

![]() | I think he want everyone to do link exchange. Not a bad idea if done properly. There are 4500 members here. Something like COOP AD Network would be good.

| Junior Member | That's what i was thinking. If there was a way to create static web pages by which all members had their link and had these pages on their web servers linked from their site, it would be tremendous. Can you imagine how many members would join iwebtool if they could be part of this system. You wouldn't have everyone uploading each time a new link came in, but maybe once every three months the pages could be updated ready for download. Would need good reciprocal checking with adequate member response. However, i believe there are disadvantages to this??? Last edited 04-05-2007 at 05:41 AM. |

![]() | I was thinking of creating a simple php script. Basically everybody submits the link to the database, the php script (include file) basically checks to see the domain of where it's included. If it matches in the database it puts their website on the list, therefore stopping people adding their link yet not putting the code on their site. |

![]() | Doesn't stop them putting the include file on different pages, but if it does a domain check?

| Junior Member | I'd like to know a bit more about this program... Sounds similar to this other link thing i tried in my early days where you put the php code on a page and it is automatically generated from another server... This sort of thing didn't do anything at all in terms of backlinks. Look forward to your reply |

![]() ![]() | Still sounds like a link farm to me - you would need to convince me otherwise

![]() | The concept is simple. 1. There is a database of website addresses. 2. You are given some php code to include on your website. 3. The include file prints all the website addresses in the database in an unabtrusive form e.g. small ajax scroller box (or fade in/fade out) that displays 5 links at a time to the user however in the html prints all website addresses for googlebot. So everyone in the list gets a backlink. 4. The include file logs the domain address of where it's included and sends the information back to the server, if there is a match in the database their website link is active for a link back. Basic checking. 5. If the data is sent back to the server say at least 5 times a day then it's considered that they have included the code on their site, however if no data is sent within say 1 day..it's fair to say they have removed the code therefore the server will deactivate their site from the list. It's a lot more complicated than that but I reckon I can build it.

![]() | well, isn't that just a link farm? no matter what google says, link farms DO work (if they quality links and quality service). There are a few basic guidelines, besides the number of links, that I would follow, or that at least we do follow in our service: 1. Does the link farm verify it's links? This is very important for obvious reasons. It's not enough that they automatically check your link and then you're added. Web sites have to be human verified so you dont get included in porno pages or pharma sites, etc. 2. Are broken links automatically removed from the listing? This is important. The service provider should periodically check it's links and make sure they are working. When the provider tells you they check every day thats bullshit (and stupid), because websites sometimes do go down (for maintenance or whatever) so the links should have an allowance of at least 1 week to come back online. 3. Can you have multiple keywords for the same link? If you heard of Google Bombs this is it. You need to have different keywords going for the same link or otherwise your link and your web will be exposed to be penalized for keyword spamming. 4. Non Recipriocal links. Do you pay per link? do you pay per PageRank? do you pay per month? I have seen various services selling links in PR 5 pages for outrageous amounts. Find a service that gives you a flat fee per month, and not based on the page rank or number of links you get (it is cheaper and you get better results). The only other one I know with quality service besides ourselves is linkciti.com, and also monthly flat fee for all rankings.5. Can you position your link based on categories and languages? Another important point, sharing links with your same community of web sites and related business. 6. Position by PageRank? This, although important, is not that super important. If the web sites your link appears have quality content and regular visitors you links will be just fine. 7. Is the links listing 100% SE compatible? extremely important point. Make sure your links appear only as TEXT LINKS, and not with javascript or anything else. 8. Can you integrate the listing into your current page? It is nice when the listing can become a part of your site (ie. http://www.direct-designs.net/en/enlaces/) 9. Do they give support? It is also interesting that when you write a question it doesnt take a week to get it answered. Some sites are abandoned and you can see just by asking a normal question through their contact form, or coming back from time to time to verify the site, your links, and the service. 10. Do they give free coffe? ![]() and I think I dont forget anything. The disadvantages of doing manual exchange, or setting up a system like you say are just a bit too many I think... you better use a quality link farm. Quote:
