Default The ol' Keyword-in-domain Story

Was just wondering about the whole thory of having your keywords in your domain name helps you on SEO and stuff. But dose it still have any effect these days?

Most of my projects i've done in the past, it did not realy help at all..

It might help a little, but if your domain is bestkeyword, then probably not. A better domain as far as seo is concerned would be best-keyword. But the benefits you gain are probably minute, so I wouldn't worry much about it if your domain isn't beneficial.

Well, to be honest.. we got a site formated like "bestkewords.com" to #1 on google for a VERY competative keyword.

I've read that it's still pretty important.

I don't believe hyphens really add anything either, as search engines seem to be pretty capable in parsing out dictionary words from domain names.

Hyphens in the other part of a URL (page name and path) do seem to be advised.
