Cool AMD or PENTIUM

AMD or Pentium processor, what your choice of processor and why you think your choice is for you.
I chose my first AMD Athlon xp 3100,
Other Sons PC Pentium 4 3, gb 1 GB ram on board graphics
my new present AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual core 4600+ M2.
Compared to a P4 there is a huge difference in price and value for money with the AMD.’
A great multitasking PC, Great for gaming, Graphic Designing, matched with 1GB 667 ram and a NVIDIA Geforce 7600 Gt 256 mb Graphics card, 320 Gb Seagate Barracuda SATA HD + 80 GB SATA HD
I use mine mainly for Graphical work, excellent for multitasking.
All these PCs can run Microsoft VISTA Premium.
The Dual core AMD 64 bit runs XP and Vista much faster then the other two PC’s.
It handles all my Professionsl graphical applications with ease of use.
Great for Video Editing.
DVD Burning

I prefer AMD 64 x 2 dual core as my choice.

AMD is cheaper than Intel, but I'd say nowadays its all about motherboards. If you get a good motherboard, you won't need to upgrade your PC for years. Get a bad one, you'll need to upgrade a lot of hardware regularly.

I'm not going to vote, AMD is cheaper, but Intel gives you slightly better performance I hear. Especially the new core duo stuff.

AMD is by far better. Their overclocking capabilities way exceed Intel's and they are better at staying cool. Core 2 duo however does rate better, but I still am going to remain an AMD buyer. Especially since they teamed up with ATI (more like bought ATI).

I read a while back that AMDs outperform Pentiums. I've been using AMDs for a while now.

Up until Core 2 duo AMDs did outperform Intel, but judging from Intel's history this won't last.
